Just tried Thyme's method, and it works like a champ. Chucked a small quarter-inch shank stone in the lathe (Jacobs chuck), and the one to be fixed in the Dremel. Used the one in the lathe to grind off the surface of the ROTATING stone in the Dremel. Result: all the solder or aluminum or whatever it was is gone, stone nice and round and smooth.
