Sooo with some mention of people using muriatic acid (37% Hydrochloric acid) to remove zinc or other coatings off of parts, and also in the name of experimenting, I'm going to use some muriatic acid to remove the mill scale from some steel in order to make building my winch bumper an easier and better process.

Hey guys (and gals if any should be reading), I was wondering what all of you use to remove your mill scale from hot rolled steel. I've been using flap discs and roloc sanders but i was wondering if anyone else had something they used that works better. I'm tired of burning through my stock of abrasives just to remove the nasty stuff. I'm always on the look-out for new ideas.

I'm in the process of making steel doors for my 'Man Cave' :-). all door frames made and I've begun sheet with 2mm 8x4 steel sheet which of course is covered in mill scale.
