I heated the tar to about 400 degrees and used a small metal bucket to pour the hot tar into the crack in my driveway. The crack in my driveway was approximately 100 feet long by 2 inches wide. I kept a piece of plywood handy in case a fire started in the turkey pot. Its been about 5 years now and this patch has worked very well.
